Cooling system takes on overheating

To get the most out of your battery life, this flash has an in-built cooling system so it won’t overheat. It will keep performing at its best even after extended periods of use. Keep rolling for longer without needing to replace the battery. Heat is suppressed in the flash head to reduce downtime between each take.

Radio controller for wireless shooting

Use your flash remotely off the camera with the benefit of a radio controller which makes wireless shooting possible. You can get more creative by using your flash off the camera. It also makes it possible to set up multiple flashes to get light in from different angles. You won’t require a line of sight for triggering other flash units. Capable of 120 flashes in a single burst at 5-second intervals, the Nikon SB-5000 flash can control up to 6 groups in AF, totaling up to 18 SB-5000 remote flash units.

Through-the-lens metering

Through-the-lens metering means the intensity of light is measured through the lens instead of a separate measuring window. What this means is that your flash will know what the surrounding ambient light is set at to give your images the ideal exposure. This is perfect for events and weddings where there are a lot of people around and lights coming from different directions. The flash won’t offset the mood, rather it will complement the scene without overtaking.

Zoom range of 24-200mm

Know exactly how far away your subject is with a zoom in the Nikon SB-5000 flash that tells you. The distance is accurately calculated to give you precision from any distance from 24 to 200mm. This helps your camera know how to focus in the given light conditions to give your images brightness and contrast balance.

Adjustable power controls

With eight stops of light levels, from 1/1 to 1/256, the power controls are adjustable on this Nikon SB-5000 flash. This is great for when you only need a tiny bit of light. Some speedlites only give you 1/128 power options, so this Nikon flash has more capability.

Advanced Wireless Lighting Made Simple Equipped with Advanced Wireless Lighting (AWL), the Nikon SB-5000 Speedlight makes complex, multiple-flash setups simpler. In addition to optical wireless control, Nikon SB-5000 offers radio control*, allowing it to remotely trigger other compatible flash units up to 30m away without a direct line of sight. This means you can position your lights exactly where you need them, and not worry about obstacles blocking the flash signal. Expand your creative possibilities with the Nikon WR-R10 Wireless Remote Controller (sold separately), which lets you control up to 6 groups of remote flashes (18 flash units total). Non-stop Shooting Power Capture fast-paced sports action, weddings, events and studio portraits without missing a moment. The Nikon SB-5000 flash gives you the freedom to shoot continuously without waiting for the flash to cool down. Boasting the world’s first cooling system in a hotshoe-mounted compact speedlight, the Nikon SB-5000 is engineered to actively suppress heat generated inside the flash head. This reduces the downtime between flashes, allowing you to fire as many as 120 consecutive flashes in a single burst at 5-second intervals. Innovative, Intuitive Design Cleverly, intuitively and compactly designed, the Nikon SB-5000 flash offers superior handling and portability. Along with a wide, brightly lit LCD display screen, its space-saving and user-friendly control panel features a rotary multi selector, which lets you easily access frequently used functions such as Flash Mode and (in Manual Mode) Flash Compensation Value/Output Level. There’s also an [i] button like those on Nikon DSLRs, offering faster, more streamlined operation. Tiltable from -7 to +90° and rotatable 180° left or right, the flash can be easily angled or bounced for softer lighting effects. Maximum Compatibility with Nikon’s Creative Lighting System Besides radio control*, the Nikon SB-5000 Speedlight works in a myriad of ways within Nikon’s Creative Lighting System (CLS). Use the SB-5000 on-camera to control other remote speedlights, or use your camera's built-in flash, another speedlight or the SU-800 Wireless Speedlight Commander to control the SB-5000 off-camera. You can even combine optical wireless control with radio control. Using the Unified Flash Control function, you can also control the SB-5000 via your camera menu* or computer with optional Camera Control Pro 2 software installed.*With compatible cameras (see Pro Tips section)Image Credits: Dave Black - Nikon Sb-5000 Af Speedlight Black
